After Friday prayers, IS flags were again waved outside city’s Grand Mosque Jamia Masjid. Some youths also displayed the pictures of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani. This is the first time when posters of Burhan Wani were displayed in the old city.
Soon after the Friday prayers ended at city Grand Mosque – Jamia Masjid some youth held protests and displayed the flags and pictures of IS and Hizbul Mujahideen commander South Kashmir, Burhan Wani. A big poster of Wani in army fatigues along with pictures of former ISI chief Hamid Gul, Hurriyat chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani were also displayed by the protestors.

Though waving of Pakistani and IS flags after Friday prayers in old city has become a routine affair now, however, this is the first time when posters of Hizb commander, Burhan Wani were waved in the old city.
Burhan (21) is the commander of a new breed of Hizbul Mujahideen militants in south Kashmir and carries a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head and counter-insurgency operations by police and Army in South Kashmir revolve around this militant and his associates who are using social media to spread their message. Earlier, this week, Burhan also released a video message asking youth to join militancy.
