Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s Union Budget for 2015-16 is likely to mark a seminal shift in the annual exercise by freeing up funds to the tune of almost Rs 3 lakh crore and allowing states the flexibility to spend the resources given their priorities.

2. BJP Delhi groundwork

Rattled by the dissent in a section of the Delhi unit over the induction and naming of Kiran Bedi as the chief ministerial candidate and predictions of a strong AAP showing in pre-election surveys, the BJP central leadership has taken charge of the party campaign, directing 120 MPs and cadres from 13 states to fan out across the capital for “groundwork”.

3. Retracing Godse’s Journey

By the time Narayan Apte and Nathuram Godse returned to Delhi on January 27 for the second and final attempt on Mahatma Gandhi’s life, the equation between the two had changed.
