In Telangana survey, Naidu is a citizen residing in another state

Once the data is computerized all the existing ration cards would be cancelled and new ration cards of Telangana state would be issued.

Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh participated in the Telangana survey but while K Chandrasekhara Rao participated as the state CM, N Chandrababu Naidu is a mere citizen residing in another state.

The enumerators, under the leadership of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Somesh Kumar, went to the CM’s residence-cum-office at Begumpet and got the details of him and his family members.

Dismissing the allegations of ethnic profiling, Rao maintained that the survey is meant to weed out bogus beneficiaries of government schemes. “Today, all apprehensions have been demolished. Even Andhra people participated in the survey whole-heartedly and while filling the forms they realised that all this controversy was created unnecessarily as there is no nativity clause in it,’’ the Chief Minister said.

As the Telangana government had announced a holiday in view of the survey, all state transport and private buses and autorickshaws were off the road.

Hyderabad, Cyberabad and IT hotspots of Ranga Reddy district wore a deserted look while schools, colleges, business establishments, banks and even petrol outlets remained shut. But as Hyderabad is the joint capital, the Andhra Pradesh secretariat functioned normally.

Telangana people living as far as Surat and Kolkata made the trip back home to participate in the survey. Officials estimate that over 1.5 lakh people working in other states made the journey back to their villages to participate in the survey. However, film stars Pawan Kalyan and Vijayasanthi refused to give their details to enumerators.

KCR said the survey data would be computerized within a month after random checks are conducted again to verify if residents have given authentic information.
