Hooda visits Gurgaon hospital, but fails to meet Chautala

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and a few other senior Congress and BJP leaders on Sunday visited Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief and former state Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala at the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.

Chautala has been granted interim bail in the JBT scam case for six weeks by the Delhi High Court to undergo a heart surgery at the hospital. Soon after Chautala was released on interim bail on health grounds earlier this week,Hooda had wished him speedy recovery.

Those who visited Chautala on Sunday included Rao Inderjit,I D Swamy and Hooda. While Rao Inderjit and Swami met Chautala,Hooda failed to meet the former CM as he was taking rest at that time.

A senior INLD leader told The Indian Express: “When Hooda arrived to meet Chautala, the doctors had given him medicine and Chautala was taking rest. Thus,Hooda did not enter his room and returned. However, both Rao Inderjit and Swamy spent about 20 minutes each with Chautala.”

Chautala and the INLD camp had held Hooda squarely responsible for reportedly falsely implicating Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala in the JBT teachers recruitment scam. The Congress, however, had denied any role in Chautala’s conviction and maintained that the INLD chief and others were convicted by the court on the basis of evidence.
