Himachal Pradesh: Governor summons DGP,ADGP (CID) over attack on BJP office

Singh has sought a comprehensive report from the police on the incident.

Governor Kalyan Singh on Friday summoned top -ranking police officers including DGP Sanjay Kumar, Additional DGP( CID) S R Mardi and Superintendent of Police (Shimla ) D W Negi for showing negligence during the attack at BJP office recently.

Singh has sought a comprehensive report from the police on the incident and also action taken against those involved in the purported attack.

The BJP had submitted a memorandum to the Governor alleging ‘police apathy’ and negligence of law enforcing agency during the attack. The BJP has named youth Congress president Vikramaditya Singh,two vice-Chairmen of PSUs (holding government positions) and also few policemen in the memorandum.

According to sources, Governor conveyed his total displeasure over handling of the situation by the Shimla police and also failure of the state police machinery in anticipating the attack.

Governor remarked, “It’s a clear reflection of the inept handing of the situation by the law enforcing agency.”

There was no point of holding a protest outside the office of another political party if the protest was related to central land acquisition Ordinance. This is no demonstrative way of protest, rather a provocative action, ” said Singh.
