The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday ordered that a Board of Governors (BoG) of Punjab Technical University (PTU) will look into allegations pertaining to the alleged illegal appointment of 282 officials and submit a report within three months.
The court said his while hearing a PIL against appointments made in PTU during the tenure of current Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Rajneesh Arora.
In 2011,an NGO,Anti-Corruption Society,had filed a PIL against the alleged illegal appointments made by the PTU.
The PIL had challenged the appointments of assistant registrars,assistant professors,deputy registrars,two members of the BoG and six consultants of PTU vice-chancellor.
It had added that these appointments were not made according to norms and huge salaries were being paid to some consultants who have no experience but only because they close to the V-C.
Advocate G S Sahni,appearing for Anti-Corruption Society,said: If the petitioner is not satisfied with the BoGs report as well as action proposed in this regard,it can knock move court.
