The Gujarat High Court will examine senior Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghelas allegation that Godhra MP Prabhatsinh Chauhan has two wives which he did not mention in the nomination form during the 2009 Lok Sabha election. This comes in the wake of the Supreme Court quashing the writ petition filed by Chauhan against the Gujarat district Congress president. A SC Bench comprising justices J N Panchal and S M Gokhale on Tuesday quashed the writ petition which will further cancel the stay order on the case filed by Vaghela in the Gujarat High Court. Vaghela took recourse to legal action after his complaints were not heard by the polling officers in Godhra. He said,I had demanded re-election for the Godhra constituency and was forced to file a case in the Honourable High Court after the polling officers refused to file a complaint. Vaghela has alleged that Chauhan did not mention his second wife in the nomination form. According to Vaghela,Chauhan had legally married a woman from Godhra a few years ago. Meanwhile,Chauhans close aides have denied the allegations. We will handle the matter in the High Court, a close aide of Chauhan told The Indian Express. The HC is yet to announce the dates for the hearing of the case, but the writ petition filed by Chauhan has delayed the hearing by about a year.
