In a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vaghela accused him of "wasting" public money on the Statue of Unity and for "self-advertisement", and sought Rs 10,000 crore aid for welfare of the OBC community.
“The BJP raised the issue of Ram Temple just on the eve of the Assembly polls to influence the voters. But the voters understood the BJP’s game. You cannot always fool people,” Shankersinh Vaghela said.
Vaghela, who was also a Union Minister in the UPA-I government, said: “I will campaign in support of the Congress candidate if I am invited by the Congress. Even if I am not invited, I will campaign against the BJP that will benefit the Congress directly.”
