Gir Somnath DDO gets death threat from Congress leader

The DDO told police that Barad threatened him to kill if he did not approve the said tender and added that he would rest only after the tender in question had been selected.

The district development officer (DDO) of coastal Gir Somanth district alleged that Congress leader Bhagvan Barad issued him death threats in his office on Wednesday.

In his complaint filed with Veraval police, DDO Ashok Kalariya alleged that Barad, who is president of Gir Somanth disterict unit of Congress, walked into his office at 12 pm on Wednesday. The politician asked him why he was not clearing tender of Nitika Cooperative Society of Badalpara village of the district for the work of desilting a pond in Badalpara village.

The DDO told police that Barad threatened him to kill if he did not approve the said tender and added that he would rest only after the tender in question had been selected.

Based on the DDD’s complaint, Veraval police have booked Barad for criminal intimidation and preventing a public officer from discharging his duties.
