Furnace explodes injuring five

Injured workers were shifted to a local hospital,supervisor of the plant booked.

Five industrial workers received severe burn injuries,when a furnace at an industrial unit exploded at the Boisar MIDC complex,the district police said.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning at the Spiderman company at Boisar of Tarapur Industrial estate.

Police said that all injured were workers were unloading the scrap metal in the furnace,when it exploded with and the hot contents splashed over them,leaving them badly injured.

All the five injured workers were shifted to a local hospital.Supervisor of the plant Haresh Singh Vijay Singh,has been booked under sections 337 and 338 of the IPC.by the Boisar police,for not providing the workers on duty,the safety equipment.

Boisar industrial area is ‘infamous’ for explosions at industrial units due to negligence.
