The accident on the Ludhiana-Moga national highway
on Monday claimed the sole breadwinners of many families.
Bus driver Manjinder Singh (45) was a resident of Natthuwala village. His father works in Rajasthan and his two sisters are married. Manjinders mother Meetu was inconsolable. He was our only son and sole earner in the family. We have not informed his wife and three children. He has two daughters (7 and 5 years) and a son (2). Who will take care of them now? she said at the Moga Civil Hospital.
Sonu (28) was in the passenger seat of the mini-truck that was hit by the truck. A resident of Mullanpur,he is survived by a widowed mother,wife and two sons aged three and one. Subey Singh,his cousin,said: He was the only son in the family. He was returning after buying vegetables from Moga. His mother,wife and children will not be able to bear the shock.
Bikar Singh,over 50 years of age,from Ramgarh Bhullar village in Jagraon,was the sole support for his sister and her daughter. He had no family of his own and his sister and her daughter depended on him, said a villager,who came to take his body.
Truck driver Sonu (35) from Gajniwala in Ferozepur was also the only earning member of his family. He leaves behind a five-year-old daughter and two-year-old son. His widowed mother has been told about the accident but not his death, said Harjinder Singh,Sonus employer.
Nepalese passenger Nand Kishore (35) and Ramandeep Singh (28) from Lilla village were declared dead on arrival at the Moga Civil Hospital.
