Results will also be printed in major English and Hindi newspaper on Tuesday morning. The draw began at 11.30 am and concluded three hours later at 2.30 pm.

“The DDA housing scheme flats were allotted through a computerised draw of lots in the presence of independent observers — Dr Prabhat Kumar (IAS),B V Rao,Editor of Governance Now,Dr Udai Shankar,Director of Ministry of Development of North East Region and C K Chaturvedi,Additional District Judge,” a statement issued by the housing authority said.

Applications for the scheme were invited in November last year. As per the revised rules, both husband and wife are permitted to file separate applications for the lottery with the condition that should both be successful in the draw, only a single allotment will be made to either of them.

The scheme also has reservations for various groups including 17.5 per cent for Scheduled Castes,7.5 per cent for Scheduled Tribes,1 per cent for war widows,1 per cent for physically handicapped persons and 1 per cent for ex-Servicemen.

The DDA will issue allotment letters within the next 15 days asking the allottees to visit the housing authority’s office with original documents for further verification.

“After verification of documents and the applicant, the demand letter will be issued to successful applicants. The list of allottees is provisional and each person will be subjected to a very thorough verification,” a DDA official said.

This comes in the wake of the controversy that dogged the DDA’s last major housing scheme.

“After the demand letter has been issued,180 days time would be given for submission of documents and payment of money, out of which 90 days will be without interest and additional 90 days with interest,” the DDA statement said.
