The horticulture department of the MCD is planning to create seven new posts to cope with the increase in work for the Commonwealth Games.
Two posts of assistant director (Horticulture) and five of section officer (Horticulture) will be created for a period of two years. “The services of the officers will be used to cope with the additional work being taken up by the department before the Commonwealth Games,” said an MCD official.
The horticulture department has formulated an action plan of Rs 742.85 lakh for the mega event,which includes planting new saplings,improvement of the municipal gardens and parks,beautification of roundabouts and landscaping at localities near the Games venues. The horticulture department at present has a director,nine deputy directors,one deputy director (Landscape),25 assistant directors and 80 section officers.
