Naxals shot dead a police constable at the weekly market of Gyarapatti village in Kurkheda tehsil of Gadchiroli district on Sunday afternoon.
Lalsu Pungati, 25, was shot seven times by an “action team of Naxals” comprising five to six members around 3 pm when Pungati was on an intelligence mission.
“He was talking to his personal informer when he was taken away by the latter on the pretext of giving some information. An action team of Naxalites came to the spot and shot Pungati seven times,” Kurkheda Sub-divisional Police Officer Sachin Pandkar told The Indian Express.
He added: “The Naxals also took away his AK rifle and 200 rounds.”
Man throws acid on two after argument over burger
LUCKNOW: Mathura police Monday arrested Montu, 30, for allegedly throwing acid on a 50-year-old businessman Devi Dayal, and his son Somdutt, 26, following an argument over the quality of a burger, in Vrindavan police station area Sunday evening. The father-son duo sustained minor burns.
Sub-inspector (SI) Vinod Kumar, in-charge of local Jaith police outpost, said, on Sunday evening Somdutt’s nephew Govinda purchased a burger from a shop run by Montu’s brother-in-law Sanju. He found the burger to be of poor quality and entered into an argument with Sanju over the issue. He was later joined by Somdutt.
Somdutt’s father Devi Dayal, who owns a jewellery shop nearby also arrived there and tried to pacify them all. Meanwhile, Montu, who works at another jewellery shop in the same market, arrived there to rescue Sanju.
The situation soon turned violent as Somdutt started beating up Montu.The latter ran to his shop and returned with acid bottles. He threw the acid on Devi Dayal and Somdutt, and escaped. Both were rushed to the hospital and were later released, the S-I said. ENS
