The Congress on Monday slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for not appealing against BJP president Amit Shah’s discharge in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh-Tulsi Prajapati killings by a Mumbai special court, and termed it as a “travesty of justice”.

“We are surprised why the CBI didn’t file an appeal in the Amit Shah case… CBI decision to not appeal against Shah’s acquittal is a travesty of justice. The government and CBI owe an explanation to the people,” Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad said.

“Why has CBI developed a soft corner for Amit Shah? Is CBI under pressure not to act against the BJP chief and de facto number two in the government?” Ahmad added.
