IAS officer Ashok Khemka, who has alleged he was targeted for questioning Robert Vadra’s land deals in Haryana, will be moving to New Delhi on central government deputation.
The Civil Services Board (CSB) has recommended his name for appointment as Joint Secretary, Government of India, and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is learnt to have given its approval. According to sources, Khemka is likely to be posted in the PMO.
The CSB’s meeting note, which has been accessed by The Indian Express, said: “The CSB noted that a chargesheet had been served on Shri Ashok Khemka. The board carefully scrutinised the charges. It noted that those charges did not bring out any corruption charges. The board further noted that the ACRs/ APARs were available for four years out of the last five years.
He had been graded as “Outstanding” during this period and there was nothing adverse about his integrity in the available ACRs. As a matter of fact, he had been consistently getting “Outstanding” ACRs in the past. In view of the above, after careful consideration, CSB decided to recommend his retention in the offer list for appointment to JS/ equivalent posts on central deputation under the Central Staffing Scheme”.
In December last year, the Haryana government served a chargesheet on Khemka for major penalty, accusing him of administrative misconduct and damage to the reputation of Vadra and DLF.
A 1991-batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, Khemka hit the headlines in October 2012, when he cancelled the “illegal mutation” between M/s Skylight Hospitality, owned by Vadra, and real estate giant DLF. He has also levelled serious corruption charges against the state government.
