Hurriyat Conference senior leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan arrested for allegedly carrying out anti-poll activities,was set free from Srinagar Central Jail on Saturday.
Khan,a leader of the moderate faction of the group arrested last year during anti-poll campaigns,was released following revocation of his detention under Public Safety Act,official sources said.
Police had arrested him from Tangmarg-Baramulla road on October 27,2008.
After his release,Khan who heads Jammu and Kashmir National Front,said,”it is our victory and we will continue our struggle for freedom”.
The government had revoked Public Safety Act against 21 detenues and undertrials,including Khan and leader of Amarnath land agitation Dinesh Bharti on February 19.
