Anand Vihar station to be opened for public from Saturday

Northern Railway has decided to advance the date of inauguration of Anand Vihar station to Saturday instead of Dec. 21.

Northern Railway has decided to advance the date of inauguration of Anand Vihar station to Saturday instead of December 21,which would be attended by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“We did not wanted to keep the passengers waiting till December 21 as the station is ready and therefore decided to advance the date to Saturday for the benefit of passengers,” said a source in Northern Railway.

Apart from inaugurating the station,the minister will flag off a special train to Lucknow and a new ladies special between Ghaziabad and New Delhi.

Besides,she will also flag off an augmented EMU train with 15 coaches between New Delhi and Panipat through remote control,sources said.

The new railway terminal,constructed at a cost of Rs 240 crore,will be integrated with the inter-state bus terminus located close by and the Anand Vihar Delhi Metro station which is expected to be operational by December end.

Two new trains from the station to West Bengal has already been announced in the Railway budget. Further,three existing trains running from Nizamuddin and New Delhi stations will be shifted to the new terminal to originate from there from March onwards.
