After VS letter, govt okay with CBI probe

CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan tried to play down the issue, saying Achuthanandan would not write such a letter.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Friday said the Congress-led UDF government has in-principal decided to seek a CBI probe to unravel the alleged conspiracy in the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan.

The decision came as CPM central committee member and Kerala Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, defying the party line, Friday wrote to the CM that a CBI probe was required in the case. Following the announcement, the slain leader’s wife Rama called off her fast in front of the government secretariat. Meanwhile, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan tried to play down the issue, saying Achuthanandan would not write such a letter.
