NBW against docs in sex test case

A local court has ordered police to issue a non-bailable warrant to arrest Parli doctor couple Sudam and Saraswati Munde.

A local court has ordered police to issue a non-bailable warrant (NBW) to arrest Parli doctor couple Sudam and Saraswati Munde.

Satara social activist Varsha Deshpande had carried out a sting operation at the Munde hospital in Parli tehsil in 2010 for allegedly conducting a illegal sex determination test.

A Parli sub-district hospital former medical officer then lodged a complaint against the doctors.

However, the couple got bail in 2011 on the condition that it will not commit such a crime in future.

But on May 18 this year,it allegedly carried out an abortion of sugarcane worker Vijaymala Patekar, who was in her second trimester of pregnancy, resulting in her death.

Following this, district civil surgeon Gauri Rathod appealed before the Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court for cancellation of their bail.

HC cancelled bail and ordered an NBW against the doctors, but police did not act.
