Stating that all private lodges would soon be mandatorily required to install CCTVs on their premises,Home Minister R R Patil told the Assembly on Tuesday that the government would act seriously against men who lure poor women into physical relationships and then extort money from them through the use of MMS clips.
Patil said a policy decision would be taken in this regard, responding to a suggestion made by BJP MLA Girish Bapat. The House was discussing a sex scandal in Satana,Nashik district, where the accused had operated from two lodges. The issue was raised by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Eknath Khadse and others through a calling attention motion.
Khadse had alleged that as per local political representatives and the public,a former taluk head of a political party was also involved in the scandal. He alleged that no action has been taken in the case though a political representative from Baglan Taluk near Nashik had personally met the chief minister and home minister over the issue and demanded a CBI inquiry.
