Jammu and Kashmir CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not intolerant and wanted development for everyone. Mufti has been praising Modi at almost every gathering ahead of his forthcoming visit to Srinagar.

“He (Modi) is not at all intolerant. He has joined hands with Mufti when we have only three seats in Parliament. Modi is an elected leader of more than one billion and 20 crore people. He must have joined hands with us with some vision,’’ Mufti told reporters after laying the foundation of a park on land vacated by the Army in the heart of the city.

“There are some ups and downs…(but) he (Modi) is very very inclusive,’’ said Mufti.

Speaking about the expected announcement of an economic package during the PM’s visit, he said: “Modi has been speaking about development, so everybody has hopes from him…Our government is already on the fast track.’’

About sending a message of friendship to Pakistan, Mufti said, “It is very important to have good relations with Pakistan. From 1947 till date, we have achieved nothing by confrontation. If India has to grow and become a big power, then good relations with Pakistan and neighbouring countries are important. There are ups and downs, but in the long run the PM will wish to have good relations with Pakistan.’’
