Nitish assets worth Rs 58 lakh, Tej Pratap owns BMW, Rs 15-lakh bike

Nitish, known for providing meticulous details of his property, has declared that he has six cows and two calves. He has cash worth Rs 40,566 while his son Nishant has Rs 7,034 in cash.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s total property is now worth Rs 58.97 lakh, after he bought a Ford EcoSport car cost Rs 11.32 lakh last year. RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s son and Road Construction Minister Tej Pratap Yadav owns a BMW worth Rs 29 lakh and a motorcycle worth Rs 15 lakh. The figures came to light when Nitish and his 27 ministers declared their assets on the Bihar government website as per an initiative started in 2011.

Nitish, known for providing meticulous details of his property, has declared that he has six cows and two calves. He has cash worth Rs 40,566 while his son Nishant has Rs 7,034 in cash. In bank deposits, Nitish has a little over Rs 61,000 from three accounts. Nishant has total property worth Rs 2.14 crore. The CM does not own any land but has a Rs 40-lakh flat in Delhi. Nishant owns a house in Patna and agricultural land and houses in Bakhtiyarpur and Kalyanbigha. The CM owns a 2003 model Hyundai Santro — a gift — and a Ford EcoSport, which he purchased in 2015. He owns a 20 gm gold ring and a moti-studded silver ring and has an old TV as well as an exercise bicycle, the website revealed.

Except the sugarcane minister, all Bihar ministers are crorepatis if the value of their moveable and immovable assets are assessed as per market value. At least half a dozen ministers have licensed weapons and education minister and Bihar state Congress chief Ashok Kumar Choudhary has over 1 kg gold jewellery. Sugarcane industry minister Khurshid alias Firoz Alam carries only Rs 3,100 in cash, as per the declaration.

Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav filed I-T return on income of Rs 5,08,014. He carries Rs 1.20 lakh cash, has bank deposit of Rs 17.90 lakh and bond and shares worth Rs 5,38,100. He has 100 gm gold jewellery and two bighas of agricultural land at Phulwari Sharief valued at Rs 8 lakh. He has a 19 decimal plot (worth Rs 1.25 lakh) and another 10 katha (worth Rs 2.5 lakh) at his ancestral village of Phulwaria in Gopalganj. Along with his brother Tej Pratap, he owns a 21 katha plot worth Rs 10.50 lakh at Phulwari Sharief. Tejashwi also owns a 3,402 sq ft plot and another 8.5 katha land valued at Rs 8.5 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, respectively, at Danapur.

The two brothers own houses at Chitkohra and Gopalganj. Tejashwi has taken a bank loan of Rs 34 lakh.

Tej Pratap has filed I-T return on income of Rs 4,45,105. Besides a BMW worth Rs 29,43,097 and a CBR 1000 RR motorbike worth Rs 15.46 lakh, he has bank deposits of Rs 4.56 lakh and bond and shares worth Rs 25 lakh. He has a bank loan of Rs 18 lakh.
