Moga: Sikh holy book found desecrated

Harpreet is currently in police custody.

For the second time in two weeks, Sikh holy book was found desecrated in Daulatpura village of Moga Monday.

On August 22, village residents had assaulted Harpreet Singh, who was accused of desecrating a ‘Gutka’ (a small book of essential verses from Guru Granth Sahib) and wrecking religious photographs. Harpreet is currently in police custody.

On Monday, a few shopkeepers noticed pages torn from the holy book. Moga SSP Sneh Deep Sharma said that ‘pages were found at five spots within a few yards’. Some pages were also stuck onto the the shutters of a few shops. “All angles are being probed,” he said.

Moga police registered FIR against unidentified persons on the statement of Gurmeet Singh, former sarpanch of the village.
