Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi nominated to Rajya Sabha
Gopi has been BJP’s star campaigner ever since he turned down a candidature for the state Assembly elections.

Malayalam film actor Suresh Gopi Thursday confirmed that he had been nominated by the Centre as a Rajya Sabha member.
Gopi, 56, who is a star campaigner for the BJP in the Kerala Assembly polls, said his focus would be development of the state. “As a Rajya Sabha member, my focus would be on water conservation and rejuvenation of water bodies. I will begin that mission from Thiruvananthapuram,” he told the media. He would actively participate in the election campaign, he added.
Through his political action movies, Gopi attained the image of an angry young man who led a crusade against corrupt politicians. In 1998, he got a National Award in the category of best actor for his role in ‘Kaliyattam’.
