Ludhiana: Red alert at Dholewal military complex

The area councillor, Arjun Singh Cheema, claimed that the suspicious persons tried to trespass his home last night but when he raised an alarm they disappeared.

A red alert was sounded in the military complex of Dholewal area in Ludhiana on Saturday, after ‘two suspects’ carrying backpacks were seen jumping over the terrace in a nearby residential area, Bhagwan Nagar.

The area councillor, Arjun Singh Cheema, claimed that the suspicious persons tried to trespass his home last night but when he raised an alarm they disappeared.

Speaking to The Indian Express, a senior Army official from Dholewal complex said, “The area tehsildar visited us today and informed that two suspicious persons were seen by locals jumping over terrace in residential area Bhagwan Nagar. They asked us to keep an eye on every movement and launched search operation.”

“We are carrying out a thorough search operation. No arrests has been made so far but action was taken after reports of suspicious activity. It was after local spotted two suspected persons that we launched a search operation. Though nothing has been found yet,” he said.

The suspects were also captured in a CCTV camera footage but faces were not recognizable. “They are carrying backpacks in CCTV footage but faces cannot be recognized as footage is of extremely poor quality,” said a police official.

Following the information, heavy police force was deployed in the area. Five SHO rank officials were deputed in search operation and DCP Narinder Bhargav also visited the area.

Commissioner of police, PS Umranangal, said, “As per investigation till now, those two persons were thieves and we are trying to arrest them. The search operation is on and security has been tightened at military complex and nearby residential areas.”
