Former Bombay High Court judge Justice Hosbet Suresh Thursday said there is a general fear that the judiciary could be “saffronised” in the years to come.
“But I don’t know how far it is true. There is an apprehension that in the course of time, if large number of people of this kind of thinking are appointed as judges at the higher level, what might happen. There are 300 to 400 vacancies today, where do we get so many judges? While the judges are more objective today, we cannot say what may happen in the course of time,” he said on the sidelines of a meeting to mark the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar at TISS.
