Watch: BJP MP Naveen Jindal reaches Haryana polling station on a horse

As voters turned up to cast their ballot for the Haryana Assembly elections Saturday, BJP MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal made a striking entrance and reached a polling station in Kurukshetra on a horse.

After casting his vote, Jindal said he chose to come on a horse because it is “considered auspicious”. He added that the people of the state will bless the BJP and make the party come to power for the third consecutive term.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people. We are very happy that they are casting their votes today and I am confident that the brave and aware people of Haryana will give their blessings to BJP…I came here on a horse as it is considered auspicious,” he said, speaking to the media at the polling station.

The MP from Kurukshetra expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the state and spoke in support of his mother Savitri Jindal who is contesting from the Hisar seat. He said she wants to do a lot for Hisar.

“My mother Savitri Jindal, who is contesting from Hisar, wants to do a lot for Hisar. So the people of Hisar will decide whom they want as representative…,” he said.

The country’s richest woman Savitri Jindal who is in the fray as an Independent candidate is the chairperson of the steel and power conglomerate, O P Jindal Group. She is up against sitting BJP MLA and minister Kamal Gupta.

Further, Naveen Jindal also said incumbent chief minister Nayab Singh Saini will return to the post.

“Haryana will bless the BJP and Nayab Singh Saini will become CM again. He (Anil Vij) is also a very big leader of our party and time will tell who becomes (CM) but if a big leader has something in mind, he has the right to say it,” he added.

Voting began for 90 assembly seats in Haryana on Saturday morning and saw a voter turnout of 18.1 per cent as of 11 am, according to the Election Commission of India.
