Narendra launches GMSC for effective essential drug delivery in Gujarat

GMSC,a non-profit organisation,shall cover the state with 124 vans,in a phased manner.

For effective distribution and availability of life-saving drugs across the state,Chief

Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched Gujarat Medical Services Corporation (GMSC) here.

Modi also flagged 20 ‘Khilkhilat’,colourfully decked-up vans,for ferrying a woman and her baby home from hospital after delivery.

The new service launched in collaboration with GVK EMRI (on the lines of 108 Ambulance),a non-profit organisation,shall cover the state with 124 vans,in a phased manner.

“The Corporation meant for effective distribution of drugs and to begin offering diagnostic medical services,was approved in the 2012 budget,” Modi said while speaking at the event here.

In a veiled attack on state Congress,Modi said “This Khilkhilaat is an answer to those grumbling on state’s progress.”

“Initially,the corporation shall take over five depots functional at-Gandhinagar,Patan,Amreli,Surat and Jamnagar- under Central Medical Store Organisation (CMSO),a government institution,” Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas said.

With the launch of GMSC,state institution CMSO would be abolished.
