(PTI Photo)New GST Rates LIVE Updates: The Centre is monitoring if the GST rate cut benefits on FMCG items are being reflected on e-commerce platforms, news agency PTI quoted government sources as saying. “We are monitoring the price changes. Field formations are monitoring, and we will get the first report from them by September 30,” a source said. “We do not want a knee-jerk reaction to such complaints,” the source said. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced a month-long awareness campaign on ‘GST 2.0’ reforms to educate citizens about the benefits of reduced prices through the revamped tax regime. The campaign aims to enlighten people on how they can benefit from lower prices on essential commodities, household articles, medicines, and other items. While addressing the assembly, CM Naidu on Monday said that the government will organise 65,000 meetings as part of this initiative. “The state government decided to organise 65,000 meetings starting from Monday till the Diwali festival. Door-to-door campaigns will be taken up to bring awareness among people about how they are benefiting from the GST cut on essential commodities, household articles, medicines and various other articles,” said Naidu.
‘GST reforms will benefit everyone,’ says Chhattisgarh CM: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the GST reforms will benefit everyone as it has reduced the cost of the daily-use items. “GST reforms will benefit everyone…The number of slabs has been reduced to 2 slabs of 5% and 18% from 4. The 28% slab has been reduced to 18% with a decrease of 10%…The items of daily use have become cheaper…The price of pesticides has become cheaper…All sections of society will benefit from this,” he said.

New GST Rates: Prices of kitchen staples, consumer electronics, medicines, and automobiles get cheaper starting Monday, as the reduced GST rates on about 375 items came into effect. In a boon to consumers, the GST Council, comprising the Centre and states, decided to lower tax rates on goods and services, effective from September 22 — the first day of Navaratri. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had last week said that the GST reforms will infuse Rs 2 lakh crore into the economy, leaving people with more cash in hand that otherwise would have gone as taxes.
