THE Education Ministry has jumped onto the swadeshi bandwagon, calling on school students to participate in a nationwide ‘Buildathon’ on themes like ‘vocal for local’.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 on Tuesday. Students from classes 6 to 12 can register and participate in school-level innovation activities and a 120-minute-long national live innovation event will be held on October 13.
The students will participate in teams of 5-7. They will ideate, design and develop prototypes on four themes – ‘Vocal for Local’ (promoting local products and resources), ‘Swadeshi’ (fostering indigenous ideas, knowledge systems, and innovation), ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (building self-reliant systems, tools, and solutions), and ‘Samriddh Bharat’ (creating pathways to prosperity and sustainable development).
After the registration, a dedicated portal will host learning resources, videos and toolkits to guide the students.
Support will be provided by mentors from incubation centres, higher education institutions and corporates to help the students build their projects at the school level, according to a concept note for the Buildathon.
