Google marked India’s 66th Republic Day celebrations with a colourful tableau doodle featuring the majestic ‘Rajpath’ – the ceremonial boulevard leading from the Rashtrapati Bhawan through India Gate — two important landmarks of the city. It is also the same path which witnesses the country’s Republic Day parade. The doodle shows men and women in traditional attire waving from the tableau. The country’s annual R-day parade sees different floats and tableau representing India’s states, government departments and initiatives.

This year’s parade will see US President Barack Obama as the chief guest – the first time in history that a US President attends the function. President Obama is also the first US president to visit India twice.

Here are some of the doodles that Google created in previous years to commemorate India’s R-day function.
