Two terrorists were killed along the Line of Control in the Digwar area on Wednesday as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, the terrorists were challenged by the troops immediately after they crossed over the LoC. They said the terrorists who tried to cross the LoC from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were trapped.
“In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered,” said Nagrota-based White Knight Corps on the social media platform X.
“Synergistic and synchronised intelligence inputs from own intelligence units and #JKP led to a successful operation,” it added.
The White Knight Corps added that the operation is currently underway.
Earlier, White Knight Corps said that troops observed the suspected movement of two individuals along the fence in the “gen area of #Poonch Sector”.
This comes after three Pakistani terrorists were gunned down by the Army and police in a meticulously planned operation in Srinagar’s Dachigam forests Monday. The terrorists were involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 25 tourists and a local were killed.
On Tuesday, Nalin Prabhat, Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, said that security forces and the police were continuing with their relentless operations, and that “the terrorists would be killed one by one”.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, police claimed to have apprehended a Kashmiri youth with arms and ammunition on the bye-pass near Nagrota. Police said the suspect, identified as Azan Hameed Gazi from Qamarwari, Srinagar, was intercepted while he was on his way from Jammu to the Valley.
Police also claim to have recovered three pistols, three empty magazines, eight live cartridges and two empty cartridges from a handbag concealed under the passenger seat.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched searches in Kathua’s Rajbagh area following reports about the movement of two suspicious people allegedly wearing black clothing and carrying backpacks.
