NSCN-IM detains Assam Rifles personnel

Tension flared up between the Assam Rifles and Naga insurgent groups yesterday after the NSCN-IM detained a JOC and five other Assam Rifles personnel near Hebron Camp in Nagaland. The Assam Rifles team had been travelling in the area and had strayed right up to the camp. The nervous NSCN-IM took this as a breach of the ceasefire accord with the Government of India and surrounded the Assam Rifles Gypsy. They detained the team until the area commandant intervened. They refused,however,to hand over the weapons of the Assam Rifles personnel.
