A special CBI court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Nupur Talwar for failing to appear in court despite the one-month relaxation given to her by the Allahabad High Court ending today. While a CBI team landed at the Talwar home in Hauz Khas to look for her in the evening, they were told she was not at home.
Nupur and husband Rajesh Talwar are the prime accused in the 2008 murder of their daughter Arushi and help Hemraj.
In the court of Special Magistrate Preeti Singh,Nupurs counsel argued that since a review petition against her arrest was coming up before the Supreme Court on April 27,she should be allowed to stay away from the CBI court proceedings till then.
The CBI,however, accused her of willfully evading her appearance and sought a non-bailable warrant. The court accepted this, and said the warrant was being issued as Nupur had not adhered to the high court order in staying away from court today. The next date of hearing for April 18.
The CBI said it would file an application with both the Allahabad High Court and Supreme Court that in case she files an appeal with either,it should be in the presence of the agencys representatives.
While Rajesh Talwar was present in court, there was no movement in his case. The CBI appeal that the bail granted to him by the Supreme Court be revoked comes up on May 7.
