Doctor held for creating obscene profile of woman on Orkut

A doctor was arrested for allegedly creating a fake profile of a software engineer.

A doctor was today arrested for allegedly creating a fake profile of a software engineer on a social networking site and posting her obscene morphed images along with with abusive content in order to defame her,police said.

The accused identified as Dr Manohar,who had a habit of giving missed calls through his cell phone on random numbers,developed friendship with a software engineer and proposed to marry her. However,the girl rejected the same and since then Manohar bore grudge against her and started harassing her by sending abusive emails,a senior police officer said.

In order to defame her,the doctor then created a fake profile in the name of the victim on Orkut and posted obscene morphed images and abusive content about her and sent friend requests to many friends and colleagues of the victim from the fake profile,the officer said.

Some of the friends of the victim received these requests and informed the victim after seeing the obscene and abusive content. A shocked victim then approached the Cyber Crime cell of the CID here and lodged a complaint in November last year.

During the course of investigation,IP addresses from Orkut were collected and the end-user was traced to Manohar,who was arrested here this morning by the Cyber Crime police,the officer said.

One laptop,data card among other things,were seized from him,the official said,adding the accused has confessed about his act.
