Two inmates of Fazilka sub-jail on Thursday escaped by dodging security guards on duty,police said. Amarjit Singh of Guruharsahai and Nirvair Singh of Kapurthala had been arrested on March 24 on charges of vehicle thefts were lodged in the jail.
At around 3 am,they managed to break open the door of the barrack and climbed the 22 feet high wall of the jail to escape,police said.
Jail authorities have registered a case against the two prisoners as well as the security guards on the duty.
Two constables – Raja Ram and Karamjit Singh – have been suspended in this connection.
