India on Sunday recorded a single-day rise of 10,112 fresh Covid-19 infections and 29 deaths, according to the data updated at 8 am.

While the number of active cases increased to 67,806, India’s Covid-19 tally stands at 4.48 crore (4,48,91,989).

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 7.03 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 5.43 per cent.

So far, the active cases comprise 0.15 per cent of the total infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.66 per cent, according to the health ministry website.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,42,92,854, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.

Till now, 220.66 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, data from the ministry’s website stated.

  1. The Union Health Secretary has written to eight states with increasing Covid-19 cases to step up measures to contain the spread. The official, Rajesh Bhushan, sent the letter to Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Haryana and Delhi.

  2. At least four Supreme Court judges have been infected by the Covid-19 virus, and a fifth one recovered recently. The four include a judge who is part of the five-judge Constitution Bench hearing petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriages.

  3. Delhi on Saturday logged 1,515 COVID-19 infections and six fatalities with a case positivity rate of 26.46, according to data shared by the health department, reported news agency PTI.
  4. With the upward spiral of Covid-19 cases in the last seven days, Maharashtra has reported 5,510 new cases of novel coronavirus. The daily average caseload has been hovering around 1,000 in the state. However, the officials claim though the daily caseload has surged compared to the February, there is no sudden spike observed in the state.
