(Facebook/ EduTap)The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a penalty of `3 lakh on Edu Tap Learning Solutions, an edtech platform, for publishing “false and misleading” advertisements claiming 144 selections in the Reserve Bank of India Grade B exam in 2023.
The consumer watchdog, headed by Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare, Thursday directed Edu Tap to discontinue the advertisement from all media with “immediate effect”. It asked the company to deposit the penalty and submit a compliance report within 15 days from the date of the order.
The CCPA issued these directions to the company under the Section 21 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
