A total of seven people have been arrested so far in connection with the case. (Express photo) The CBI on Monday got custody of four people accused in connection with the Manipur sexual assault video, which showed two women from the Kuki-Zomi community being paraded naked and sexually abused on May 4.
The central agency took over the case last week, after the state government issued an order to transfer the case to the CBI.
Police produced the accused in the court of a special judge in Thoubal, and asked for them to be remanded to judicial custody until August 14. However, the CBI filed an application seeking custody of the accused, which the court granted until August 2.
The court asked the CBI’s investigating officer to produce the accused before the court on August 2, and said that the bail applications filed by the accused would be considered on that day.
Manipur Police arrested the four on July 20, after identifying them from the video that was widely shared online.
