Bypoll Election Results 2023 Live Updates: In Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) achieved a clear win with a margin of 58,647 votes. The AAP candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku will be the first party's first Lok Sabha MP. Meanwhile, BJP ally Apna Dal(S) won the Suar and Chhanbey assembly constituencies. The ECI is slated to announce the results for the bye-election held in five constituencies, as counting of votes is underway in Jalandhar, and three assembly seats across UP (Chhanbey), Odisha (Jharsuguda) and Meghalaya (Sohiong). Slain Odisha minister Naba Kisore Das' daughter Deepali won from the Jharsuguda constituency, which was vacated following her father's assassination in January. In Meghalaya, United Democratic Party (UDP)’s candidate Synshar Lyngdoh Thabah won the Sohiong Assembly seat in East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya, defeating the National People’s Party (NPP)’s nominee Samlin Malngiang by over 3,400 votes. The victory took UDP’s tally to 12 in the 60-member state Assembly, which is double its number in the previous House. In UP, the assembly constituencies of Suar and Chhanbey went to polls on May 11. With the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) staying away from the bypolls to focus on the urban local body elections, the bypolls on both seats witnessed a close contest between BJP’s ally Apna Dal(S) and the SP. Meanwhile, the Jharsuguda seat in Odisha was a battle between the ruling Biju Janata Dal’s Deepali Das, BJP’s Tankadhar Tripathy, and Congress’ Tarun Pandey, and the Sohiong assembly seat in Shillong saw a contest between National People's Party (NPP) and United Democratic Party (UDP).
