Congress on Friday asked the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify their position on the issue of caste census.

Rahul Gandhi walked 4000km across the country from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to get justice for the Dalit, tribal and OBC communities and has demanded a caste census. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party should clarify their stand on the caste census. Since the BJP is opposed to it, that is why PM Modi is falsely accusing the Congress of ending reservation,” said Maharashtra Congress in-charge Ramesh Chennithala.

Addressing campaign rallies in poll-bound Jharkhand and Maharashtra, PM Modi had accused the Congress of scrapping reservation. “The Congress party strongly protests against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s false accusation. The campaign rallies of PM Modi are not fetching any response from the people of Maharashtra. The meeting held at Shivaji Park in Mumbai received very poor response. People are tired of Modi’s lies,” said Chennithala, adding it is Narendra Modi’s BJP that is trying to end reservation.

Meanwhile, the Congress leader informed that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is set to address rallies at Chimur and Dhamangaon Railway in Vidarbha while Priyanka Gandhi will hold rallies in Shirdi and Kolhapur on Saturday. She will be in Gadchiroli and Nagpur on November 17.

The Congress on Friday approached Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer against the ‘covert’ advertisements by the ruling Mahayuti. The party’s general secretary Sachin Sawant submitted the complaint against Mahayuti and a Marathi entertainment channel for showing the ruling side’s ads during a Marathi serial while switching between scenes.

“We strongly condemn this blatant abuse of the Moral Code of Conduct and demand action in terms of filing an FIR…Action should also be taken against the channel, by filling an FIR. It is possible that the same thing may have happened on other channels as well,” said Sawant in his complaint to the state CEO.
