Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday congratulated the voters, workers and office bearers of the NDA for their resounding victory in the Bihar Assembly elections.

He also termed the victory as a "testament to the people of Bihar's unwavering faith in the development-oriented guidance" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. — PTI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said, "I express my gratitude to each worker of the NDA, who have worked tirelessly. They went among the public, presented our development agenda, and firmly countered every lie of the opposition. I appreciate them from the bottom of my heart!"

In his first reaction to the NDA victory in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Victory of good governance has been achieved. Victory of development has been achieved. Victory of the spirit of public welfare has been achieved. Victory of social justice has been achieved."

He added, "My deepest gratitude to my family members of Bihar, who have blessed the NDA with a historic and unprecedented victory in the 2025 assembly elections. This resounding public mandate will empower us to serve the people and work with new resolve for Bihar."

Amit Shah added, "Every single vote of the people of Bihar is a symbol of faith in the Modi government's policy against infiltrators who play with India's security and resources, and their sympathizers. The public has given a befitting reply to those who protect infiltrators for the sake of vote banks. The people of Bihar have conveyed the mood of the entire country that the purification of the voter list is mandatory and there is no place for politics against it. That is why, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress has today reached the last rung in Bihar."

With the trends showing the Congress being decimated in the elections, another BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia took at swipe at Rahul Gandhi, saying the opposition party did not just lose its legacy but credibility also under his leadership.

"Rahul's gift to the Congress on Nehruji's birth anniversary: 95 losses again and again! Legacy Lost, credibility lost Too!" Bhatia wrote on X.

As trends suggest a landslide victory for NDA, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi says, “This is the response of the public. We have experience and we know the public. Considering the kind of work that the double-engine government has done in Bihar, the public has voted for us.” — PTI

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday felt the need to work out a new strategy for the Congress party and the INDIA bloc for the future following the Bihar poll results, where the ruling NDA is leading as the counting of votes is underway for Assembly polls in that state. — PTI

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said people have voted for development and good governance, rising above caste and community.

"This vote is of hope and trust. People have shown faith in Prime Minister Modi's leadership and his guarantee for development (of Bihar)," the former Union minister told reporters here.

Prasad said people of Bihar have seen "Lalu Prasad's jungle raj" during the RJD rule and the change that took place in the state during the NDA's tenure. — PTI

Ahead of the vote counting in the Bihar elections, Bihar Congress In-Charge Krishna Allavaru says, "The blessings of the people of Bihar are with the Mahagathbandhan. We hope that the counting process is conducted impartially and, with the people’s support, the Mahagathbandhan forms the government"

Flower and sweetmeat sellers of Patna are maintaining a large stock expecting brisk business on Friday, when votes for the assembly polls will be counted, as winning leaders will be garlanded and laddoos distributed among their followers.

Karan and Vikram, two teenage brothers selling marigold flowers under the GPO Golambar flyover, have received orders for around 400 bouquets for Friday. The order for garlands, they expect, will also come.

Vikram, the younger brother, said, "Nobody knows who will win the elections. Once the trends start coming tomorrow, the picture will be clearer. And, hopefully, orders will start coming.” The order for bouquets, they said, has come from an RJD worker.

Like flower sellers, sweet shops, too, have a lot to mine from.

Anticipating its victory in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has already ordered 501 kg of laddoo.

"Sweetmeats are indispensable on these occasions. They (politicians) will definitely come to us when the results are out," a shop owner in Patna's Patliputra Colony area said with a laughter. — PTI

Ahead of the Bihar Assembly Election counting of votes, the RJD took to X on Thursday to allege malpractice by election officials. In a tweet that warned erring officials, the RJD said, "Some senior officials stationed in Patna are instructing district officials to slow down the counting process wherever the RJD shows a clear majority, and to immediately declare results wherever the NDA is leading, so that by showing an advantage for the NDA in the results, psychological pressure can be created through the lapdog media."

The party added, "The identities of such officials have been ascertained. They have been warned to mend their ways, failing which they should prepare for every possible harsh punishment."

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for Friday's counting of votes polled in the Bihar assembly elections, across 46 centres in 38 districts of the state, officials said.

Schools in Patna will remain closed on Friday in view of the counting exercise, they said.

“Counting arrangements have been made in all the 243 assembly constituencies. The exercise will be conducted by 243 Returning Officers in the presence of 243 Counting Observers and the candidates or their agents.

“A total of 4,372 counting tables, each staffed with one supervisor, counting assistant and micro-observer have been set up. More than 18,000 Counting Agents appointed by the nominees will also oversee the process,” the Election Commission said in a statement. — PTI

Counting will commence at 8 AM and according to the EC's directions, postal ballot counting will begin first. Counting of electronic voting machines (EVMs) will begin thereafter at 8.30 AM.

Counting of postal ballots is to be completed before the penultimate round of EVM counting, according to a recent EC direction.

Postal ballots are counted in the presence of candidates or their counting agents by the RO or assistant RO.

During EVM counting, control units are brought to the counting tables round-wise and shown to the counting agents to verify that the seals are intact and serial numbers match the records in part I of Form 17C.

The number of votes recorded in EVMs is cross-verified with entries in Form 17C. In case of any mismatch, VVPAT slips from that polling station are to be counted mandatorily.

After completion of EVM counting, a random selection of five polling stations per constituency is made for VVPAT verification. The slips are matched with EVM results in the presence of candidates and their counting agents.

Results will be compiled and made available round-wise and constituency-wise by the respective ROs on the official EC results portal.

A day before the counting of votes, the BJP said remarks by RJD leaders show their despair as the people, who have sealed their mandate in EVMs, have decided to give another term to the NDA. Party state president Dilip Jaiswal said the party leaders are in constant touch with workers at counting centres and hoped that, as the polling went peacefully, the counting day would also remain eventless.
