As Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Thursday evening in connection to the excise policy case, the party took to social media with the hashtag #IStandWithKejriwal.
“The time has come for total revolution,” the party said in a post on X, urging people that it is time to “overthrow the dictatorial government” at the Centre.
“Hold the torches of revolution. The time has come for total revolution. The dictatorial government that is trampling the country, it’s time to overthrow it,” the post read. It was accompanied by a video of Kejriwal’s early years in politics including the formation of the party.
A 12-member team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal from his residence in North Delhi’s Civil Lines. The ED team reached his residence in the evening and questioned him after the Delhi High Court refused to grant CM Kejriwal protection from coercive action in the excise policy case.
In other posts on X, the party also said, “ED reached the house of Delhi’s son @ArvindKejriwal! BJP should know that it is trying to move the mountain in whose support the entire country stands today. The people of Delhi are watching everything. No one will sit silent today.”
Using the hashtag #IstandWithKejriwal, it said, “The BJP can stoop down to any level to make Arvind Kejriwal bow down. The people of the country including entire Delhi are standing with their hero Arvind Kejriwal today. This dictatorship of yours will not last. And a Kejriwal will emerge from every house.”
The Aam Aadmi Party said Kejriwal will not resign as chief minister. “Arvind Kejriwal was Delhi CM, is Delhi CM and will always be Delhi CM. He will not resign,” Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi said following the arrest.
