3 siblings die in building collapse in J&K’s Kishtwar

The police said the three deceased were asleep inside their kutcha house at the time the incident occurred. Locals attributed the collapse to continuous rains in the area for the past three days.

Locals rushed to rescue those buried under the debris of the house and were later joined by the police. Kishtwar SSP Khalil Ahmed Poswal said the parents of the deceased were safe as they were on the other side of the house.

The building collapse happened within 24 hours of the death of four members of a nomadic Bakerwal family after a tree fell on their tent during the wee hours of Friday in Bahlna forests of Kishtwar district.

On Thursday, seven labourers died when a vehicle carrying them skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in the Kishtwar district.

Meanwhile, Kishtwar District Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav has extended financial assistance of Rs 25,000 along with other relief materials to the bereaved family. He also announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 4 lakh for each deceased.
