On Sunday, L-G Sinha chaired a UHQ meeting at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar, which was attended by senior officers of the Army, police, paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies, and the administration.
After reviewing the security situation of Jammu and Kashmir during a Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting in Srinagar, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha announced that 12 more destinations would be thrown open to tourists.
These destinations were closed for tourists after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. They will be reopened on September 29.
“After a thorough security review and discussion in today’s UHQ meeting, I’ve ordered reopening of more tourist spots in Kashmir and Jammu divisions, which were temporarily closed as precautionary measures,” Sinha said in a post on X.

Of the 12 destinations, seven fall in Kashmir, including Aru Valley and Yanner Rafting Point in Pahalgam, Akkad Park on the way to Pahalgam, Padshahi Park in Anantnag, and Kaman Post at the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Uri. The five destinations thrown open for tourists in the Jammu region include Dhaggar in Kathua, Dagan Top in Ramban, and Shiv Cave in Salal.
Around 50 destinations were closed for tourists and picnickers by the administration after the April 22 terror attack in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam, in which 25 tourists and a local man were killed.
In June, the administration reopened 16 tourist destinations.

Sinha congratulated security forces, police and intelligence agencies for the “recent successful anti-terror operations” in Jammu and Kashmir.

“War against terrorism is not over yet. Kinetic and non-kinetic operations must continue,” he told the meeting, adding, “We must maintain the momentum and take stringent action against terrorism and its entire ecosystem.”
The Lt Governor directed the security apparatus to improve continuously and to proactively adapt to the evolving threats. He also called for the “whole of government approach for effectively tackling radicalisation and the drug menace”.
