Jubilee actor Sidhant Gupta is earning praise from all corners for his performance as Jay Khanna in Vikramaditya Motwane’s new show, Jubilee. The actor said in an interview that he is absorbing the audience’s love with his arms wide open, as he has gained recognition in the film industry almost eight years after making his acting debut with the 2015 romantic drama Badmashiyaan.

Recently, Gupta spoke about the reaction he has been getting for his performance in the Prime Video show, which also stars Aparshakti Khurrana in the lead role. He shared with Film Companion, “When it (Jubilee) was on the verge of releasing, I was very calm for some reason. I was like, this has given me what it had to give me. It’s like a lifetime that I spent, it feels like that and when you give everything to a character, every second for a year and a half, it gives you something in return and it was beautiful and I was like, it cannot give me more, it’s not possible.”

But then, Jubilee opened to rave reviews from critics and audiences, with Sidhant being declared the standout performer of the cast. But he was confused if he should read the reviews or not, until his friend sent him one “meaningful” review.

He shared, “The first review I read was sent to me by my friend, and it spoke about Atul Sabharwal, our writer. He mentioned this little scene where I go to a cobbler and fixes my shoe for free. That guy had mentioned how Atul Sabharwal’s father used to be a cobbler and how he joined the dots, I was so touched.” He added, “It also said a line about me, ‘You can see a star in him before Jay Khanna becomes one’. It was so beautiful. There was so much love that was coming in. I was standing on my balcony in the Titanic pose and was just absorbing all of it.”
