Kim Soo Hyun is now facing new allegations of using paid users to sway public opinion in his favour amid his ongoing dating scandal with the late actress Kim Sae Ron. As his reputation continues to take a hit, reports suggest his agency is working overtime with a three-pronged approach which includes onboarding a law firm, a management team, and crisis experts to handle the situation. On Friday, a new report from South Korean outlet KNN News (Via Nate Pann) claimed there’s been a sudden and suspicious surge of support for the actor across social media and fan communities. And it’s raising serious red flags.

Netizens suspect paid comments

On social media, netizens suspected that the sudden flood of positive posts about Kim Soo Hyun might not be as organic as they seem. KNN News (affiliated with SBS) reported that many of the comments appeared to be copy-pasted across different platforms. Several posts, featuring Soo Hyun’s picture in the profile, included similar phrases and headlines, pushing sympathy for the Queen of Tears star by pointing out his alleged emotional struggles and past charitable donations.

Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, had earlier raised concerns about his mental health, citing “extreme psychological distress” amid the backlash over his alleged association with Kim Sae Ron’s death. According to Koreaboo, screenshots shared online revealed multiple examples of nearly identical articles being posted to forums like DC Gallery, Girls Planet 999, Mister Trot, and even League of Legends communities. Many of these posts repeated words such as:

“Kim Soo Hyun looks completely dazed. He can’t even get out of his car…”

“Public opinion is on Kim Soo Hyun’s side. Only the ahjummas here are living in a different world.”

In one case, a user accidentally replied to their own post from the same account, pretending to be someone else. The post discussed Kim Soo Hyun’s 300 million KRW donation to the Sewol Ferry relief fund. Netizens were quick to point out the blunder:

User: “Did he really donate 300 million KRW? Wow, I didn’t expect that.”

The same user replied: “Yeah, right? So impressive.”

Across platforms like Nate Pann (South Korea’s online forum), users have voiced their anger over the alleged media manipulation. Many criticised Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist, for trying to flip public perception instead of addressing the accusations directly. “This is disgusting. He’s trying everything but proving his innocence,” a user crticised. “Gold Medalist is hopeless. Are they paying minimum wage for this nonsense?” another said.

Recently, photos surfaced of gifts sent to the actor via his agency. The agency claimed that the gifts were sent to him by international fans. Instead of sympathy, the images led to more criticism, with many accusing supporters of supporting a “pedophile.”

Reports suggest that Gold Medalist has brought in three separate crisis management teams to handle the fallout. The first team, a law firm, is overseeing all legal matters, including allegations involving minors and the claims surrounding Kim Sae Ron’s debt repayment pressure. The second is a management team focused on handling media, advertising, and brand partnerships. With the actor recently being dropped by several brands, both past and newly signed, this team is working to manage the big pushback against his public image. The third is a dedicated crisis management team, reportedly taking a more hands-on approach to the controversy. Reports claim they’ve even reached out to Kim Sae Ron’s “acquaintances and her former agency,” trying to piece together what really happened in the days leading up to her death.
