Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas is all set to flex some muscles in Russo Brothers’ upcoming show Citadel. The actor has done most of her action sequences in the spy thriller series. Recently, the creator of the series, Joe Russo shared what they put Priyanka through during the shoot, they didn’t make Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans go through any of it during the filming of the Marvel movies.

During one of the interviews for the promotion of Citadel, Joe said, “The physical work she did on the show, for the amount of time she had to do it, it was the toughest we have put any actor through.” He added that Priyanka carries “a lot of physicality of season one”.

Priyanka joked that her favourite scene of the series is the last scene. Joe continued, “It’s the hardest job we have asked of any actor that we worked with. Even when we were doing those Marvel movies, when Robert Downey Jr puts on that helmet, he is out and CGI takes over. Chris Evans when puts on the cap, some man takes over, but there was no rest for her.” The filmmaker had earlier also praised the actor for her ‘enthusiasm’ towards her work.

As per Priyanka what didn’t happen to Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans, happened to her because, “Our characters are humans, we get hurt, we bleed, we don’t have superpowers, so it was important.”

In Citadel, Priyanka plays an elite spy Nadia Sinh opposite Richard Madden, who stars as Mason Kane. Recently in an interview with indianexpress.com, the actor said that the simple reason why female stars were never given that mounting is because of “patriarchy”.

“It is a thick glass ceiling. But I think my generation of actresses, there are many of them, that have helped knock that ceiling down in Hindi cinema. Actors like Deepika, Katrina, and Kangana, who have done incredible action and looked amazing while doing it. It took them demanding that, it took a generation of actors before us to fight for it and that happens with every generation,” she said.

Citadel will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on April 28.
