The International Emmys were held in New York on November 25. The Night Manager, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, and Sobhita Dhulipala, was India’s only entry at the awards show. It was nominated in Best Drama Series category. The show was competing with three other nominees — the French show Les Gouttes de Dieu (Drops of God), the Australian show The Newsreader–Season 2, and Argentina’s Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido Season 2 (Yosi, the Regretful Spy). Les Gouttes de Dieu was announced as the winner.

The Night Manager released in two parts last year. It is a remake of the British television series of the same name, which itself is an official adaptation of John le Carre’s novel. Produced by The Ink Factory and Banijay Asia, the show was directed by Sandeep Modi. It was shot in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Middle East. The show’s first part premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on February 16 last year. The second part was released four months later in June.

The show was released to mostly positive reviews and was nominated in six categories at the 2023 Filmfare OTT Awards. After it received an International Emmys nod, Anil Kapoor said in a press note, “This show has been a labor of love for all of us – every cast and crew member who worked behind the scenes. We’ve all poured our hearts into this project. To see it connect with the global audience, and now to receive this prestigious recognition is deeply humbling.”
